Privacy
Short version: nothing about your files leaves your Mac.
Last updated 8 November 2026. Silicon Bud (formerly CacheTrail) isn't released yet. This page will be updated before the first release.
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party scripts or fonts. Every file on this page is served from siliconbud.app. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and protect it, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
The app
- Scans read folder names and sizes. They never read file contents.
- Scan history and the cleanup journal are stored on your Mac and never uploaded.
- The disk view reads folder names and sizes across your home folder and apps, and keeps a local history of folders larger than 50 MB so it can show what grew. It never opens files.
- The memory view reads the names, folders and memory use of your own running apps and tools while it's open. It never reads their arguments, never stops them, and never stores or sends any of it.
- No account and no telemetry.
- Reports you export leave out full paths and your username unless you choose otherwise.
What will connect to the internet
Silicon Bud is sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment and billing details under its own privacy policy. When you activate Pro, the app sends your license key, an activation ID and a random installation name to Dodo Payments. It checks the license about once a day and before moving items to the Trash. Update checks will fetch release information from siliconbud.app. None of this includes scan data or file paths.
Who runs Silicon Bud
Silicon Bud is made by Martin Tomov and published by Martin Tomov Holding EOOD, a company registered in Bulgaria (EIK 208945333).
